Postgraduate Research Degrees – Entry Requirements

IELTS Waiver
Some universities offer an IELTS waiver if:
✅ You have previously studied in English (e.g., your degree was taught in English)
✅ You can provide a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter from your university confirming English as the teaching language
✅ You have equivalent qualifications accepted by the university’s English requirements
✅ You pass the university’s internal English assessment or interview
Dependants Requirements
🔹 Eligibility: PhD/research students (course 9+ months) can bring partner and children
🔹 Funds: Proof of maintenance funds for partner (£845–£1,023/month) and children (as per UKVI)

Latvia Student Visa – Short Guide
Get accepted by a Latvian university/college.
The institution applies for OCMA invitation/approval on your behalf.
Complete Hello Verify (required in Sri Lanka).
Book and submit your 90-day D-Visa application at VFS Global Colombo.
Travel to Latvia with the approved D-visa.
After arrival, apply at OCMA to convert the D-visa into a temporary residence permit for the full study period.
